Polish Metal Holocaust |
Since the beginning of metal time bands have tried to make an impression. KISS had their face-paint and costumes, the costumes continued with CLOVEN HOOF and every black metal band paint their faces. Things tend to continue and today it requires more. The beauty and the beast-concept seem ubiquitous today but the beautiful beast is less ordinary. Polish band IMMEMORIAL seem to have found that niche. Fronted by Karla they burst in on the unsuspecting public. Guitarist and bass player Frost took the time to answer some questions of mine about death, girls and Poland. The band
Poland and girls Frost doesn't think that they have any particular influences. They all claim to listen to a variety of bands that to a certain extent influence the band but they seem to have no common favorite band. Frost agrees that DRAGON and WOLF SPIDER are classic groups but that he also stopped listening to them long before joining IMMEMORIAL. In fact he states that they have no influence at all on their music, just forerunners of more brutal and extreme music. Most of the stuff I receive from Poland/Polish bands is neck breaking, why are there so many brutal bands in Poland? Frost doesn't agree, "- But is it only in Poland that so many groups play such music? I guess not; perhaps the fact that Polish band are quite well-known makes this impression. Well, well, I might be the only one who still listen to DRAGON and feel that Poles are more brutal than the rest after all. But then the question of the choice of a female vocalist remains. "- Speaking of Karla or our former singer Marta.
It all happened just Frost claims there is nothing special about the way they
create music, "… -, just a lot of time Tadra writes all the music while Frost concentrates on the solos, sound quality and mastering. A helping hand from sound engineer Szymon Czech is also present. They spend six months recording the album, mostly due to divided sessions. That was helpful to the band for analyzing the phases of the recording, correcting mistakes or making changes. Karla wrote the lyrics and she focuses on everything around us all, life, death, sin etc. There are no particular themes or concepts.
In the Future to Come "- We are going to play several gigs in Poland soon
and visit some European Frost goes on to tell me that the next installment will probably be released by the end of 2005 or at the beginning of 2006. The band aim at making it as perfect as possible. One major obstacle seems to be finding a bass player, which they are currently seeking. Frost himself adds to the problem list by being a technician with Vader, their frequent gigging takes up a lot of his time. He really wants to focus more on IMMEMORIAL by the look of things. Frost spends most of his spare time making new riffs and tracks. There seems to be a lot of new stuff written and there is no doubt that Frost is very impressed with the new material. We are in for a real treat ladies and gentlemen! The Finishing Touches |
